Pop Art
During the mid- to late- 1950s, Pop Art emerged as an American and British phenomenon and was named by the art critic Lawrence Alloway. The fascinating art movement challenged traditional fine art by portraying any and all aspects of pop culture and its powerful impact on modern life. Imagery was taken from magazines, movies, advertisements, comic books and other popular cultural concepts then physically incorporated into the art pieces. Artists such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Roy Lichtenstein and so many others, attempted to elevate and celebrate everyday life in new and iconic ways.
Pop art represented an attempt to return to a more universally acceptable and objective form of art after the era of Abstract Expressionism that dominated both Europe and the United states for many years. With bright colors and bold imagery, our pop art collection is an expressive and fashionable way to show off your personal style.
