Noted almost equally for his artwork as his quirks, Gustav Klimt was an extremely talented and eccentric Austrian painter. His motto of, “All art is erotic,” often got him into trouble in the highly conservative art world. Not at all subtle, his paintings, sketches, and murals left nothing up to the imagination and went far beyond what was deemed acceptable at the time. Though initially successful for architectural commissions, he couldn’t shy away from developing his own eclectic, highly personal, and often fantastical style. His work was often criticized and condemned in the Art Nouveau era. But we’ve come a long way, baby! And today, we couldn’t be more pleased and accepting of this incredible artist. That’s why we’ve dedicated an entire collection to Klimt, one of the most influential and important artists to come out of twentieth century Austria. Our Gustav Klimt all over print collection is a nod to the radical painter and his incredible designs.
